Saddleworth Golf Club was formed in May 1904 when a group of prominent local men and women met at the Mechanics Institute (now Civic Hall) in Uppermill and resolved to establish the club. Dr Alister MacKenzie designed the course and was responsible for the design of Royal Melbourne, Augusta National, Cypress Point and Pebble Beach amongst many others.
The present 5th green is reputed to be one of the original MacKenzie greens. The clubs history has been chronicled by one of its trustees, Mr. Geoffrey Woodhead. Details of this limited edition publication can be obtained from the Club Secretary.
